Duties: Responsible for assisting the dentist in the treatment room providing hands-on dental care for patients. Responsibilities include instrument sterilization, patient education, chair-side assisting of dentist, processing x-rays, cleaning operatories, seating and dismissing patients. Generally working to make the patient’s visit as comfortable and efficient and beneficial for the patient as possible.

Training: We provide on-the job training. For assistants who have been with our office full time for over two years we pay tuition and wage incentive to achieve NYS certification and license (can to be done at home over the internet through MCC). Being NYS licensed increases the tasks that are legally performed by the assistant and allows the assistant to earn a higher wage.

Wages: Starting wage for no previous experience is $10 per hour. A NYS licensed dental assistant with years of experience can make $14 – $18 per hour.

Benefits package: Does include a probationary period. Benefits include paid personal time, paid vacation time, paid holidays, group health insurance contributions, 401k retirement plan, uniforms, dental care, continuing educations, etc.

Hours: Will include some evening and Saturday hours. Evening hours are generally no later than about 7:30 pm but can sometimes run later for emergency patients. Saturday hours are generally every other Saturday.
